CTC Readers' Poll:
Best Valentine's Day Ever

In the January 15, 2008 issue of the newsletter, Counting the Cost editor Nancy Twigg asked readers this question:

"Tell us your most special Valentine’s Day celebration and what made it so memorable. Was it a great gift, an unusual outing or an overwhelmingly thoughtful gesture that makes it stand out in your memory?"

Responses:

"I am very new to your email newsletter. In fact this is my first one, but I just wanted to add an idea for Valentines Day for your readers. The movie 'Fireproof' has been getting great reviews and I've heard couples really benefiting from it. It would be a great date movie for married couples to see and then after it, evaluate their marriage on what they most love about each other and areas they can improve on. I know this is what we'll be doing!" ~ BrieAnne

"One year my husband surprised me by having a catering firm come to the house and cook us a steak dinner.  Not only did he do this for me but two of his daughters and their spouses joined us so it was really special.  The caterers cleaned up all the dishes and everything so it was PERFECT!" ~ Mary

"In eight years of marriage I have had two outstanding Valentines Days. On the first Valentine's Day we were married, I came home to our entire king sized bed covered in rose petals! On our fifth Valentine's Day, my husband re-created our first Valentines date, from the picnic dinner on the beach to the red tie he wore!" ~ Donielle

"One year my husband tapped into the resource of a lovely older lady friend, who coincidentally happened to be our landlord at the time.  She baked him a loaf of homemade bread and helped him make a small lasagna.  When I got home from work on Valentine's Day, he had the table set with a candle and dinner for two with a bottle of wine. I was eternally impressed." ~ Jennifer V.

"This year is the first 'married' Valentine’s Day for us so we’ve decided to try the Nancy Twigg $5 Valentine’s Day Challenge. I have no idea what Phil is doing for me, but I have my gift for him planned, thanks to finding a three-opening frame in the closet that I had forgotten about. The top will hold a favorite wedding photo of the two of us. The center will hold Phil’s favorite verse of scripture (Eph. 2:10). The smaller opening at the bottom will hold a special love note from me. Hallmark has a great deal going on a special set of boxed cards …10 handmade cards for $10 (and boy, are they gorgeous). They are blank inside so I found two of them that could easily accompany my special Valentine’s gift to my Prince Philip..." ~ Tammy W.
